About me

Hi, I'm Kyla!

I am a Mexican-American Queens native, passionate about advocating for the systemic inequalities marginalized folks experience. During my undergraduate career, I have concentrated on the intersectionality of race, gender, and class, taking these experiences into account when proposing solutions for communities.

I research and write about the impact of systemic injustice on intersectional identities. In addition, I have also researched the relationship between body image and body satisfaction with social media use, focusing on young Latinx women.

I am passionate about using applied research methods to create questions of equity and provide solutions; collaborating with community members, non-profits, and NGOs to bring about change.

I am interested in helping create change in communities, aiding in research that holds those in power accountable, and in constructing policies that will bring change across the U.S.
